Basics Photography: Capturing Colour

Numa tentativa de tentar incutir alguma cultura neste blog, tomei a liberdade de criar uma nova categoria, “books”.Dito isto, passemos à primeira tentativa de “review” propriamente dita. O livro em questão – “Basics Photography: Capturing Colour” -, livro este que é de grande qualidade por duas razões. Primeira, pelo simples facto de ter sido oferecido por uma certa pessoa numa certa data (lol), e segunda, é simplesmente de grande qualidade.

O livro em si apresenta um conteúdo somente teórico e abrange tópicos que na minha opinião carecem de atenção por parte da grande maioria dos livros sobre fotografia que tive o prazer de folhear nem que seja por 2 minutos numa qualquer livraria. No entanto e ao contrário do que acontece na maioria das vezes, este cativou-me nesses mesmos 2 minutos. Não irei como é obvio falar sobre todos os conteúdos do livro de uma forma extensa, irei simplesmente apresentar 6 tópicos do livro, num total de 8. Junto dos tópicos segue uma breve descrição dos mesmos, a qual copiei na sua integridade do livro.

Colour theory
“It is important to develop an understanding of how relationships between colours can be exploited. A theoretical approach provides a solid basis to analyse why some results are successful and others fail.”

Vision
“The way we see things differs greatly from the way that photographic media will record them. A good understanding of how human vision works will help in predicting photographic results more accurately.”

Light
“As photographers we must become intimate with light. We must appreciate all its properties and learn how to use them to convey mood and emotion. The colour temperature of the light source is of primary importance.”

Photographic colour
“From film to digital, photographic colours are created in various ways. In order to ensure consistency we need to appreciate the various standards for defining colours and how our cameras reproduce them.”

Filtration
“The three main uses for filtration are to manage contrast, balance the colour of the light source to the colour our media expects and to deal with partially polarised light sources.”

“In the digital age a major component of the creative process occurs post production where an immense variety of options are available for manipulating colour.”

Por uma questão de curiosidade, os tópicos acima respeitam a ordem do livro, sendo que os últimos 2 que ocultei são na realidade os 2 últimos do livro, são eles:

Processing and printing
